Free As a Bird...
There once was a bird who soared through the sky like an angel, across the blue horizon into the golden sun…within, this bird knew no ups and she knew no downs….she knew only what was….and flowed careless and free with the wind…. Then one day there was a storm so grand, with lightning bolts sent from the Gods above….the bird knew no better and flew into the storm …she could not see two feet in front of.her…. CRASH!!! a lightning bolt shocked her and sent her free falling to the ground….when she awoke she forgot who she was and where she came from…lost and confused, she began wandering on foot, for she didn’t remember how to fly … days passed as she explored the valleys, lakes and mountains…fearing every step she took would be her last…the days of innocence, of pure joy and love seemed like they never existed…she only knew of pain and suffering, of feeling alone and drifting day by day in infinite circles…spinning her wheels and not getting anywhere….then one day for the first time since the fall…she came upon a very large bear and saw him scooping out fish from the stream…she got excited and wondered to herself if that’s who she was…so she tried imitating the bear by scooping the fish out of the stream, only to have them slide right by her…dejected, she sat beside the water and caught a glimse of herself…she’s never seen anything like her before…the bear told her she was very special, that she was sent from above…but she did not trust him, she felt insignificant,……yet there was a part of her that wanted to believe him…she had this burning feeling inside her that all was not as it seemed, that there was something more….she was looking for something, but didn’t know what….on her path she continued…searching high and low…without stopping..….she ran, and ran, and ran some more….without a clue as to where she was heading…she walked blindly forward knowing that one day she would soon find out….but nothing came to her…why did this happen to me?? she thought…why me???….I do not deserve this!!!….she couldn’t take another step and dropped to the ground, where she cried till there was no tears left….she felt raw and vulnerable….and remained there stairing up into the heavens….letting go of her pain and sorrow, her expectations…surrendering to all that is…when at last a sign appeared…she saw a beautiful creature flying towards her…much to her surprise he look just like her….he got closer and closer and circled her from above …she heard him sing…”spread your wings., you are an angel…remember where you came from” And before she could blink he was gone….. she looked down at her wings and did as he said…she started to remember…..and began to stretch and move her wings up and down and all around…when she gathered her courage she began to flap them faster and faster and could feel her feet lift from the ground….she never felt so light before and cried with tears of joy…she flew though the sky without a care in the world feeling like she was a child again…innocent and sweet…carefree and full of love, with out a fear in the world…off she flew into the sunset…to bask in her freedom and light, WHICH WAS THERE THE WHOLE TIME.
